Location

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the WilderMe eco retreat site at Maker Heights sits perched above the picturesque twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, enjoying spectacular sea views across the tranquil waters of Cawsand Bay towards South Devon.

Rame Conservation Trust maintains this natural beauty spot. The site is also of national historical importance, previously home to over 300 soldiers in the Napoleonic Wars and a key defense for Plymouth in WWII. The 17th Century Barracks are now home to a creative hub of local artists, musicians and artisans, with a licensed bar, gallery and music venue offering small community events throughout the year.

Soak-up the breathtaking sea views as you stroll down to the old fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand. Coastal path hedgerows delight your senses with aromas of gorse and blackberries and an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife thrive throughout the year.

Accommodation

This is glamping at its very best! Each geodome contains a comfortable double and single bed (an additional bed can be added on request, sleeping up to 3 adults). Simply furnished with natural materials and plants bring the natural world indoors. You will feel instantly inspired to detach from the digital world, to slow down and connect to the nature all around you! Lighting is powered by solar and a fire pit BBQ sits outside for you to enjoy as you watch the sun set over the sea and star gaze the clear skies above.

The tranquil site houses 6 geodomes which are distanced far apart, providing privacy and ample space to relax and unwind amongst the abundance of wildlife. An additional communal geodome provides basic cooking facilities and a dining area where you can socialise. You can charge devices here too, using the USB solar charger.

Communal washing facilities with 2 compost toilets and 2 hot showers are just steps away from the geodomes but you are also welcome to use neighbouring facilities (flushing toilets) by the yoga studio.

Food & Drink

Breakfast and dinner are served buffet style from the communal dome with vegetarian and vegan options available, where possible, we love to eat al fresco and enjoy the peninsula's special micro-climate!

A range of teas are available to help yourself to throughout the day. You are also welcome to use the kitchen facilities in the communal dome to prepare your lunches, although we highly recommend that you sample ex-River Cottage chef Nick Platt's local delights at The Canteen. There are many other wonderful cafes, restaurants and inns within walking distance too!

Yoga & Treatments

Yoga classes take place outside on lovely sunny days, including an early morning Sunrise Flow and yoga on the beach (weather dependent) but we also have a large rustic studio on site for indoor sessions.

Ayurvedic massage and Reiki treatments are also available during your stay for a truly restorative experience.

Sustaining WilderMe

Your Relax & Refresh Retreat booking also contributes towards providing subsidised places on WilderMe Autism Retreats. WilderMe is a social enterprise that runs nature-led retreats for adults and children with autism and listed in The Guardian's top 10 charity holiday stays in the UK. Just what I needed and more... Sarah's retreat was not only welcoming but a perfectly balanced practise of yoga & meditation... Sarah's massage and Reiki were both wonderful and impacted me deeply. Beautiful location and great energy. Can't wait for the next one!!!

Sojourner, Sep 2021

An amazing retreat. I had the best week. Sarah's yoga classes were grounding, relaxing, connecting and peaceful. The retreat centre itself is in a beautiful spot with lovely views. It was a short walk down to the beach, where I enjoyed many a sea swim or a relaxed afternoon. The food was delicious, and Sarah catered incredibly well for my gluten-free/vegan diet. I came back feeling more nourished, nurtured, and connected to people and nature. I really appreciated this week, and am grateful to Sarah for sharing her knowledge, peace and kindness with us all

YOGA CLASSES

Gentle Flow Yoga

Classes connect body-mind-breath as you move mindfully between the different yoga asanasSome positions are held, whilst others flow continuously through gentle sequences.

Focus is on releasing tension and stress within the body, rejuvenation and boosting energy levels.

Included are indoor classes at the Maker Heights studio, an early morning Sunrise Flow and a beach yoga class (outdoor classes are weather dependent).

Restorative Yoga

The evening restorative yoga class is deeply relaxing and restful, slowing down the body & mind through passive, supported stretches, whilst you are guided through breathing and meditation techniques.

Sunset Yoga Nidra

A guided meditation as you lie comfortably in Savasana. Often called 'yogic sleep' due to its deeply relaxing nature, where your conscious mind lets go of the everyday thoughts and drifts off to sleep, as your sub-conscious takes you into a profound place of inner peace and calm.

Take a revitalising sunset sea swim afterwards (optional).

Yoga classes are suitable for all levels of experience.

If you have restricted mobility or suffering with an injury, please get in touch with Sarah to discuss your needs before booking.
